Mikumi National Park

Mikumi National Park situated in Morogoro along highway of Dar es Salaam – Iringa – Mbeya. The park covers area of 3,230sq km with important zones as Mkata flood plain known for supporting abundant of wildlife in Mikumi. The park accessed from Morogoro while from Dar es Salaam is approximately 283 km.

Mikumi named after a wild palm that grows in the area. With open horizons, water pools, miombo vegetation and flood plain is the part of great ecosystem that stretch to reach Indian ocean supporting wildlife include buffalo, giraffe, hippo, crocodile, eland, wildebeest, impala, zebra, predators as lion, jackal, hyena, leopard, cheetah etc. Over 400 species of bird recorded in Mikumi.
